Pizza – quick and easy pizza dough

Ingredients

  • 500 g flour (preferably tipo “00” flour, available in larger supermarkets or Italian delicatessens)
  • 300 ml water (lukewarm to speed up rising)
  • 6 g dried (instant) yeast (or 20 g fresh yeast)
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 ml optional: olive oil

Preparation

  1. Divide the water between two separate bowls.
  2. Add the yeast to one part of the water and stir well until it is dissolved.
  3. Add the salt to the other part of the water and stir well.
  4. Mix the yeast water with the flour. Once well mixed, add the salt water.
  5. Knead everything well—5 minutes with a food processor, about 8 minutes by hand. Even if you let the food processor do the kneading, it's a good idea to knead by hand during the last phase so you can get a feel for the soft dough and know when it's kneaded enough.
  6. Divide the dough into 4 to 5 equal parts and shape them into balls. Place them in an airtight storage container that you can lightly coat with olive oil to make it easier to remove the balls from the container later. Leave to rise at room temperature (minimum 3 hours) or cellar temperature (2 to 8 hours) until the dough balls have approximately doubled in size.
