half or quarter wheel of raclette cheese, or 650 grams of pre-sliced cheese
700 g baby potatoes
1 jar of pickles
Preparation
Preheat the oven, just as you would for baking pizzas.
Would you like some potatoes with that? Place a few baby potatoes directly on the hot oven floor or in a stainless steel dish and turn them every 5-7 minutes. After turning them three times, these potatoes will be deliciously cooked and have a crispy crust. Be careful not to let them burn! Keep the potatoes warm in aluminum foil or a covered oven dish.
Slide the front slide out of the oven and place a board on top of it. Take a block of wood or other support and place the half or quarter ball of cheese with the open side facing the fire so that the open side is at a 45° angle.
Slide closer or further depending on how browned you want the cheese to be.
Every so often, scrape the melted cheese off the surface and drop it onto a plate, preferably directly onto crushed baby potatoes.
Not in the mood for potatoes? Baguette will do just fine. A fresh salad and a few pickles work wonders too!
